MAN CLA proves ideal for specialised applications

Since its introduction to the South African truck market in 2007, the MAN CLA range of heavy-duty trucks has proven itself to be the ideal vehicle for on/off-road applications, particularly as rigid platforms for mixer and tipper bodies. Today, other specialised applications are deploying the CLA because of its rugged but precise German engineering and drivetrain that is easy to maintain and repair.

“Municipal services contractor, Wasteman Holdings uses the CLA 26.280 6x4 for various waste management duties. The robust manual transmission gives drivers a good feel for the terrain and the straightforward engine makes diagnostic work a breeze, ensuring optimum vehicle uptime,” says Livingstone Mulaudzi, senior product manager, MAN Truck & Bus Africa.

The CLA 15.220 4x2 rigid chassis is successfully making headway into fire fighting and waste management operations. “Body-builders fitting both fire-fighting and waste management equipment enjoy the simplicity of the vehicle which ensures trouble-free PTO functionality, in both high revolution and high torque PTO applications,” explains Mulaudzi.

For Wasteman Holdings’ director, Justin Bott, “The guys at MAN really understand the intricacies of our application, ensuring vehicles are correctly specified to bring the lowest possible lifecycle cost to each truck. There’s a consistency in the quality of service across all MAN’s branches around the country and their service and repair turnaround times are excellent!”
