MANs In The Bag For East Riding Sacks

East Riding Sacks, the UK’s largest independent paper sack manufacturer, has recently replaced two of its distribution tractor units with MAN TGX 26.440 BLS 6x2 units. This the first time the East Yorkshire-based company has introduced the MAN marque into its fleet.

The vehicles will be used to distribute the company’s products to its customers throughout the country.

Acquired on a three-year Contract Hire arrangement through MAN Financial Services, MAN was selected after a full appraisal with three other manufacturers. The MAN TGX ‘package’ offered the highest productivity potential

“The importance of this is very great in our market,” said Transport Manager David Hanson, “as keeping our overall distribution costs to a minimum helps us to compete with large international manufacturers, and having a reliable truck is an added bonus.

“The trucks went on the road on the 1st June, and, so far so good, in that the trucks have performed exactly as we would have hoped. As a bonus the drivers have really taken to them

“Furthermore, MAN’s “Add Nothing” engine technology means that we do not have the problem of having to stock AdBlue. At the moment fuel economy is acceptable at just over nine mpg, and, we feel that once our drivers have completed a driver training course with MAN trucks later in the year, this should improve.”
