MAN can for Maen Karne

South-West aggregates company takes six Euro-6 MANs

Maen Karne, one of the south-west’s leading aggregates and earth-moving specialists, has taken delivery of six new Euro-6 MAN TGX 26.440 6x2 trac-tor units – taking the total of MAN fleet acquisitions to ten in the last 18 months. The new units come as fleet additions and coincide with the arrival of four new Kelberg T100 bulk tipping trailers.

“We have run an MAN 6x2 with a tri-axle trailer previously on block deliveries within the fleet, and with great success,” said Transport Manager, Martyn Lyne. “so, we selected MAN thanks to this positive experience in mind and, importantly, because of MAN’s strong reputation for building high quality trucks.”

“Our local MAN dealer, Patrick Uren Commercials, is just three miles away,” he added, “and, with all regular servicing undertaken outside normal working hours, we are able to keep downtime to an absolute minimum. We’re de-lighted to be working alongside Patrick Uren – another local Cornish compa-ny – with whom we have a very good working relationship.”

Lyne went on, “Our company is now growing and we need a solid platform on which to build. We have not run Euro-6 vehicles before but feel this is a significant step forward in establishing that platform and, at the same time, becoming a more environmentally friendly company.” he said.

The increase in fleet size, including the additional trailer equipment, is part of a concerted branding image ‘push’ by Maen Karne as it continues to haul over half-a-million tonnes of China Clay to local ports annually.
