MAN 'Has Its Chips' with D. Mortimer & Sons

International haulier and carrier of the catchy ‘Eat More Chips’ trailer livery, D. Mortimer & Sons, has taken delivery of its first MAN TGX fleet. Five left-hand-drive TGX 26.480 6x2 tag-axle units are already in service on five-year Contract Hire packages through MAN Financial Services.

The Melksham-based haulier was keen to introduce another marquee to its fleet and credits MAN with providing an excellent whole-life package. Its decision was also reinforced by feedback from a regular owner-driver whose experience of his own TGX tractor unit over the last three years was exemplary.

The new MAN units are fitted with 1,100 litre fuel tanks.

Mortimer’s famous ‘Eat More Chips’ strapline stems from the company’s domination of the fresh and frozen chip import market – it’s vehicles becoming a regular sight on south of England’s motorway network. The company also distributes fresh fish from The Netherlands which has been shipped from Dutch Harbour in Alaska (as seen on TV’s The Deadliest Catch) to markets across Europe, including Spain and Portugal.

D. Mortimer & Sons employs 50 staff and runs 25 vehicles, including 24 refrigerated units and a single 80 tonne low loader. Deliveries are made right across Europe to destinations including Greece, Sicily and Southern Spain. The company also has a fruit and vegetable wholesale business and a dairy farm.
