MAN TGX voted ‘Fleet Truck of the Year 2018’

The MAN TGX has been voted ‘Fleet Truck of the Year’ at the prestigious Motor Transport Awards 2018. Announced to an audience of over 1,000 representatives from the transport industry, the Motor Transport Awards celebrate the achievements of the industry and recognise and reward ex-cellence, innovation, outstanding service and efficiency.

For 32 years, the Motor Transport Awards have been seen as a benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and other innovators. Widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the Industry they and are judged by an independent panel of experts.

Motor Transport Editor Steve Hobson said of the award: “The judging panel, made up of extremely experienced industry professionals, singled out the MAN TGX for its high efficiency, low cost of ownership, excellent parts and service support delivered through a highly focused dealer network, as well as the high levels of driver comfort. These are all attributes that make a real difference to truck operators and drivers”.

Presented with the award at the official ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London’s Park Lane, Thomas Hemmerich, Managing Director MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd commented: “I’m delighted to accept this award and see it as a true indication that the MAN TGX, our Dealer Network and the Customer Service packages we offer are exactly what the market demands.

One of Britain’s leading specialist Food Supply Chain Services for Ambient and Temperature controlled products, Fowler Welch of Spalding, attended the awards and Nick Hay, CEO added: “It was very interesting listening to the judges’ comments. We operate a fleet of 450 vehicles, 125 of which are MAN TGX’s and we’ve been delighted with their performance, particularly in terms of fuel efficiency. We are delighted with the customer-focused service we receive from MAN UK and our local dealer partner. Both understand our business and fully embrace our willingness to collaborate with our key suppliers.”

The worthy winner beat off stiff competition from three other truck manufacturers, DAF (CF), Scania (P-series) and Mercedes-Benz (Actros).
