MAN Peaks At Zenith

Zenith Logistics in Chepstow has expanded its fleet of MAN tractor units with an additional six TGX 26.440BLS 6x2s; the XLX cabbed units will be joined by a further two XXL-cabbed TGXs later this year. The fleet was acquired through MAN Finance on three year contract hire agreements, and will be serviced and maintained at MAN’s Truck Centre in Cardiff, WG Davies.

Zenith’s 35 strong fleet of MANs are all operated through MAN EcoStyle – MAN’s unique IT-based driver performance tool. Based on MAN vehicle telematics, MAN EcoStyle provides Zenith with information, in real time, on how their drivers are performing and, crucially, how profitably its vehicles are operating.

“It’s early days yet,” said Managing Director, Peter Keates, “but we are already collating some excellent feedback and have identified clearly some areas where efficiencies can be made.

“We’ve been trading for just two years, and, in that time, MAN has really established itself as a partner. The trucks are superb; one ’08 chassis, for example, is clocking 130,000 miles-a-year and it just hasn’t missed a beat.”

He continued, “We’re also an anti-Adblue operator. Our trucks are away a great deal, and it’s just practical to carry the stuff en route. It has a real ‘buggerance’ factor. We conducted a thorough cost comparison, and, on paper at least, the MANs returned the better figures. And, with MAN EcoStyle, I’m confident we are running the right trucks.”

Despite both the recession and its relative youth in the transport sector, Zenith Logistics already boasts committed partnerships with clients in multiple sectors. Major contracts are established within the newspaper industry, high street retailers, builder’s merchants and food manufacturers.
