MAN Aids Recovery For T.O.M Vehicle Rental

T.O.M. Vehicle Rental, the Lanarkshire-based vehicle rental, recovery specialist and independent commercial vehicle service and repair facility, has added a new MAN TGX 18.480BL 6x2 ‘wrecker’ chassis to its fleet. The vehicle received a third-axle conversion and is now rated for 76 tonne GVW operation.

A further 45 MANs are on order for programmed delivery later this year – all as fleet additions. The order comprises tractor units, 18, 12 and 7.5 tonne rigid and tipper chassis. The vehicles are scheduled for further conversion work at T.O.M. Airdrie’s on-site engineering facility, JWR Coachworks.

The company, which has been an MAN operator for over ten years, has around 300 Munich-manufactured vehicles in its 3,000+ fleet.

“It’s not just the quality of MAN’s trucks which drives our loyalty for the MAN product,” said Robert Stewart, Commercial Director, at T.O.M Airdrie, “it’s the aftersales support from MAN Truck & Bus Bellshill – our businesses integrates well and MAN copes efficiently with the demands we place upon them. And it’s the people too; we enjoy a great working relationship with MAN.

“We have MAN-trained technicians and partsmen in our business,” he added, “and this further cements that team ethic. We also lease a MANcats diagnostic machine from MAN at Bellshill for our own workshop, and an impressed parts stock. This level of dedication from our truck manufacturing partner, ensures our customers do not experience the inconvenience of significant downtime.”
