Heathrow-based air-freight specialist, Servisair Cargo, has added to its fleet 20 new MAN TGX 26.440BLS 6x2 tractor units. The trucks, one of the industry’s most popular models in 2011with over 2,800 unit sales, are part of Servisair’s fleet replacement programme, and will be stationed at the majority of the UK’s major airports.

The new XLX-cabbed vehicles, all acquired through MAN Financial Services on three-year contract hire packages, join three top-of-the-range XL-cabbed TGXs which went into service last September.

“We selected MAN,” said Matt Dodd, General Manager UK & Ireland at Servisair Cargo, “because the aftersales support is fantastic. The TGX is an excellent truck, and it’s highly reliable, but, trips to the workshop are inevitable, and that’s where a manufacturer comes into its own.

“We’re a 24/7 operation,” he said, “and we rely on a top-level service from the MAN network. The team at Cordwallis in Heathrow provide an extremely high level of customer care, and this is backed by the same levels of service at the MAN dealers in Manchester and Bellshill [Glasgow], together ensuring that uptime is truly maximised.

“Driver feedback has been very positive, too,” he added, “in fact, they love the MAN TGX, remarking that the XLX cabs are more comfortable and offer more space over their previous trucks.”
