Crossgar Foodservice Plays it Cool with New MAN 'Fridge Fleet

Leading Irish foodservice supplier, Crossgar Foodservice has added a further 10 fridge-bodied MAN TGM 15.250BL 15 tonne rigids to its distribution fleet. This takes the total to 20 MAN trucks delivered in the last 12 months, which in turn sees MAN making up around 50% of the 65-strong fleet.

The latest Euro 5 rigids are fitted with refrigerated bodies by Lifford Coachworks of County Donegal and are temperature controlled with Frigoblock front-mounted refrigeration units.

The company says it’s loyalty to MAN remains in place thanks in part to the Munich marque’s ‘green’ credentials. Crossgar’s own stringent environmental policy goes hand-in-hand with MAN’s EGR ‘Add Nothing’ engine technology.

“We’ve always had a strong relationship with MAN,” said Transport manager, Darren Hughes, “we looked at MAN’s solution to Euro 4 and 5 and were very pleased to see it could provide a ‘no AdBlue’ solution – it fits very well with our environmental policy.

“One of our first MANs,” he continued, “was a 7.5 tonne G90 8.136. It proved to be a real workhorse, and it’s a characteristic inherent in all our MANs ever since. These latest TGMs are performing well, and are regularly returning 12 and 13mpg.”

Crossgar Foodservice delivers fresh, frozen, ambient and ‘non-food’ products right across Ireland and is also the sole all-Ireland Distributor for 3663 – the UK’s leading foodservice company.

The company prides itself on providing a one-stop-shop for its customers, and includes a range of 10,000 products built around a core of locally sourced produce. Crossgare Foodservice is unique in the foodservice market as it owns and controls the sourcing of its poultry, meat and sauce products.
