Bulk Haulier Commits to MAN Ecostyle

Solihull bulk haulage specialist, R Adams & Sons, has reaffirmed its loyalty to the MAN marque with the delivery recently of four TGX 24.440 BLS 6x2 mid-lift tractor units. The tractors join an existing MAN TGX eight-wheeler, and an established fleet of 16 TGA 6x2s.

A further two new TGX units are being readied for delivery on September 1st, and which will be both fitted with the new MAN EcoStyle driver and vehicle performance reporting equipment. Based on MAN vehicle telematics, MAN EcoStyle will provide R Adams & Sons with information, in real time, on how their drivers are performing and, crucially, how profitably its vehicles are operating.

A family-run company, R Adams & Sons has a 60 year history, much of which as an ERF operator. More recently, the company has become a staunch supporter of MAN, both with regard to its products and its dealer support.

“Our local MAN dealer, Aquila Truck Centres has been fantastic,” said company director, Mark Adams, “not that we’ve needed the use of their workshops, such is the reliability of the MANs. If a problem should arise, however, I know I can count on Aquila, day or night, to get the problem sorted. They’re all good people at Aquila.” he said.

The company also has two trucks from two other marques in its fleet, each with SCR engine technology, and both of which having failed to impress the company in operation.

Mark Adams again, “AdBlue has proved to be a real pain,” he said, “it represents another cost, it’s certainly no more economical and it’s an encumbrance for our drivers. With MAN, we just add diesel, so, why bother with AdBlue?”
