Aspray24 bolsters its 24/7 Next Day delivery service with New MAN TGE Vans

Aspray24, part of the Aspray Group, has just taken delivery of six New MAN TGE vans.

From its head office in Willenhall, in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, Aspray24 delivers a complete supply chain solution to its customers; from source of manufacture to storage, warehousing, order picking and national delivery.

With three business divisions; Aspray24, Aspray Logistics and Aspray International, the new MAN TGE vans will the help ensure the group continues to offer a wide set of services suited to every customers individual re-quirement.

Aspray’s history stretches back to 1982 when they operated two vehicles out of a small shed in the West Midlands. Today they have 14 mainland depots operate some 400 vehicles and 150 trailers, they handle 30,000 plus items per night – weighing some 850 tonnes - and remain a specialist carrier offering standard next day service throughout the UK.

Five of Aspray24’s latest fleet additions are MAN TGE 3.140 Long Wheel Base High Roof vans, with efficient and responsive 140 hp engines married to six speed manual gearboxes. The sixth is the more powerful 180 hp TGE 3.180 Long Wheel Base van, featuring an eight speed automatic transmission.

Jon Turner, Fleet Engineer at Aspray24, who has worked for Aspray for 19 years said: “These new MAN TGE vans are entering our fleet at an exciting time within our business and are an extension to our existing fleet of 400 vehicles.

“We are growing as a 24/7 delivery service provider and are conscious of the ongoing driver shortage issues that surround the industry. To combat this we are as committed to driver training as we are to delivering our customers’ goods through our nationwide delivery network, and feel these new TGE’s form an important part in our plan to see driver development through our vehicles.

“The Driver Development programme we have in place at Aspray ensures that our van drivers are offered a comprehensive in-house training program which can result in them passing their C+E heavy goods vehicle license and in doing so see them progress onto becoming our next truck drivers.”

Finished in the company’s traditional dark blue livery, the new TGE’s all feature Emergency Brake Assist and air-conditioning and are fitted with Hope Safe-T-Bars. They are also equipped with two way cameras, with recording function and are equipped with electronic pda systems, while their cargo areas are ply lined to ensure both customer goods and body panels are protected from potential damage.

“We are very impressed with the TGE’s build quality and standard specification and have found it to rival anything in the market,” continued Jon. “The high level of safety and comfort, an important consideration, will en-sure that our drivers are both safe and fresh as they traverse the UK.

“In our line of business it’s critical that our vehicles are on the road 24 hours a day seven days a week, so during early conversations with MAN it was refreshingly clear that they have both the mentality and the strong willed commitment to support their vans with the same level of service as a truck receives, this for us was a major factor.” Jon concluded.

All of Asprays new TGE’s come with MAN’s optional five year ServiceContract Gold, Maintenance and Repair package, which in-turn is supported by the range standard three-year, unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty. ServiceContract Gold comprehensively covers all service and inspection work, regular maintenance and fair wear and tear repairs. They are also supported by MAN’s Mobile24 24-hour breakdown service, which guarantees 24/7 emergency roadside assistance 365 days of the year.

The TGE’s were PDI’d by MAN’s Truck & Bus’s Aquila Truck Centre, based in Tipton, West Bromwich, Birmingham. As part of the nationwide Aspray24 fleet the individual vehicles servicing needs will be catered for through MAN’s nationwide dealer network.

All six TGE’s were supplied by MAN’s Light Commercial Vehicle Sales Ex-ecutive, Jason Kemp, who commented: “We are delighted to have supplied Aspray24 with their first MAN TGE vans.

“The Aspray Group is new to the MAN brand and we’re sure that the new vans will serve them well in this demanding 24/7 delivery role. We look forward to continuing our excellent working relationship.”
