New manager of Marine market segment at MAN Truck & Bus

Claus Benzler has been strengthening the external engines business of MAN Truck & Bus AG in Nuremberg as head of the Marine segment since July 2, 2012. The graduate industrial engineer is responsible for sales, application and service.

In his function as head of Marine, Benzler will further expand the high-speed marine engines business as one of MAN's strategic business segments. Benzler consolidates the core competences of sales, application and service. The biggest challenges facing him in his area of responsibility are the demands of the market for greater power and the increasingly stringent legislation on exhaust emissions. Benzler gained his experience in sales of engine components in the automotive supplier industry. Claus Benzler reports to Reiner Rößner, Vice President and Head of Sales, MAN Engines.

MAN engines for yachts, pleasure craft and merchant shipping

MAN builds powerful and compact diesel engines delivering from 730 to 1,800 hp (537 to 1,324 kW) for yachts and pleasure craft in the 50- to 100-foot classes. For engines in medium-duty operation such as in ferries, passenger and fishing boats, MAN offers a range of outputs from 400 to 1,400 hp (294 to 1,029 kW). At the heavy-duty end of the spectrum there are engines with power ratings of 258 to 900 hp (190 kW to 662 kW) for tugs, freighters and other working vessels. MAN marine engines are characterised by powerful acceleration and extremely economical fuel consumption. Their advantages are primarily in their excellent power yield and compact dimensions. The engines are shipped ready for incorporation, and are optimally designed for the particular application and its operating conditions. Following installation, MAN will undertake inspection plus acceptance and commissioning of the engine. All engines comply with international exhaust standards.
