Enthusiasm on the racetrack: MAN Truck & Bus supports Formula Student Germany 2011
MAN Truck & Bus sponsors qualified young talent, provides career information at event.
At the beginning of August 2011 students from all over the world are gathering at Hockenheimring to present racing cars they designed themselves at Formula Student Germany held by the VDI (Verband Deutscher Ingenieure/Association of German Engineers). The teams compete in eight disciplines, where the winner is not just the team with the fastest car. Only teams with balanced overall packages of construction, performance, and financial and sales planning have a chance of convincing the panel of expert judges. The budding engineers are challenged to go the extra step in their education by incorporating into it intensive experience in building and manufacturing as well as considering the economic aspects of the automotive industry. MAN Truck & Bus supports the event as a sponsor and will be represented there at its own stand. In addition, the commercial vehicles manufacturer is also supplying experts for the jury, who will scrutinise every detail of the prospective engineers' concepts.
MAN is always on the look-out for highly qualified staff who will drive progress with enthusiasm: "Professional qualifications alone are not enough. For MAN, social competence plays an equally important role," says Dr Bernhard Frey, Head of Personnel Marketing at MAN Truck & Bus. "I'm convinced that working in an engineering design team improves team skills and enables one to learn about one's strengths and weaknesses at first hand."
At this event, these talented young people will be able to make initial contacts and in personal conversation, find out more about MAN Truck & Bus as an attractive employer. The MAN recruiting team will be on hand to point out career opportunities and provide information about one of the leading international manufacturers of commercial vehicles and transport solutions. Also present at the event will be MAN experts who earned their spurs at the Dakar Rally and the Truck Race series and who will be giving tips and tricks for optimising the racing cars. A pit stop at the MAN Truck & Bus stand will be a worthwhile one for the approximately 2,000 students and more than 5,000 spectators expected at Hockenheim.
"MAN has been committed to racing for many years and is passionately involved even when it comes to impassable tracks. At the Dakar Rally and the races in the Truck Race series, our vehicles have been proving themselves and thrilling spectators and customers for decades," says Stefan Knecht, Senior Vice President Engineering Truck and Cabin at MAN Truck & Bus. "We assist creative minds in the realisation of ideas and we're continually looking for committed young people who want to move ahead in an attractive working environment, together with us developing the transport solutions of tomorrow. Formula Student brings together inventive young people with ambition who have created overall concepts to get them across the finishing line first – this is the younger generation we need."
Formula Student Germany at the Hockenheimring drivers' paddock is open to visitors from August 4 to 7, 2011. The MAN Truck & Bus pavilion is located in the outside area immediately next to the pit lane. The stand will be staffed from 09:00 to 18:00 during the event and on the closing day until 19:30.
