Boot 2008 fair in Düsseldorf
With its high-speed diesel engines the premium brand MAN is exhibiting once again this year at Europe’s biggest boat fair – the 39th International Boat Fair in Düsseldorf from 19.01.2008 until 27.01.2008. The dynamic diesel drives bring yachts of up to 82 foot up to rapid speeds and promise pure enjoyment. With three up-to-date marine engines the Engine Business Unit of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG is presenting a selection of the comprehensive product programme for yachts and sports boats.

MAN V12-1550 – Top performance in the MAN engine programme
With an ample 1,550 hp / 1.140 kW the V12-1550 is the most powerful diesel engine in the MAN engine programme for yachts and sports boats. The V12 achieves its maximum torque of 5,000 Nm at 1,200 rpm and thus develops a high-torque acceleration even at low speeds. Compact installation dimensions give boat designers a great deal of scope for the design of their yachts. Common rail direct injection, a two-stage turbocharger with an intercooler and an optimal combustion process provide for exemplary emission values which means that the V12 falls below the internationally valid exhaust-gas regulations. With its V12-1550 MAN displays impressively that a high output, compact installation dimensions and an environmentally compatible function can be combined with each other.
MAN R6-800 – ideal dimensions with regard to output, design and economy
The lean 6-cylinder in-line engine MAN R6-800 provides 800 hp / 588 kW at 2,300 rpm. The R6-800 already achieves its maximum torque of 2,700 Nm at 1,200 rpm. The wide usable speed range ensures a powerful acceleration. At rated output the economical 6-cylinder engine has a consumption of just 158 litres/hour. The innovative engineering ensures that the specified emission values of the international directives are, of course, complied with.
MAN R6-550 – compact output in the small segment of MAN marine diesel engines
MAN’s marine engine programme is rounded off in the low output class by the MAN R6-550. The 6-cylinder engine with 550 hp / 404 kW at 2,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 1,657 Nm at 1,200 rpm unfolds its power with poise and develops a convincingly dynamic acceleration. Equipped with common-rail direct injection, a turbocharger and intercooler, MAN’s smallest marine engine too is an ultra-modern diesel drive which complies with the international exhaust-gas regulations and thus plays a lasting contribution to easing the environmental impact.
MAN is offering six diesel engines with a total of eight ratings from 550 hp / 404 kW to 1,550 hp / 1,140 kW for yachts and sports boats. The engines are supplied ready for installation and have been optimally designed for the relevant conditions of service and operation. After installation MAN offers its services for the checking, approval and all-round commissioning of the engine. All engines comply with the international exhaust-gas regulations.
