Gearbox technology
The right gearbox for every bus: Individually optimised to suit their intended application, MAN manually operated gearboxes allow for maximum efficiency and driving comfort, may it be during long coach journeys or in intercity and city traffic.
EcoShift manually operated gearbox
The newly-developed Eco Shift manually operated gearbox makes shifting gears an extraordinarily pleasant experience, thanks to its ease of operation. Gears engage perceptibly. This considerably increases the safety of gear shifting. It also reduces the chance of shifting to the wrong gear, whereby it is almost impossible to accidentally put the vehicle into reverse. Additionally, the Intarder 3 makes it possible to increase braking performance by up to 20 percent.
Application: Intercity buses and coaches
MAN TipMatic® semit-automatic manual gearbox
MAN TipMatic® is based on an semi-automatic manual gearbox. The system picks the best possible gear for each driving situation and adjusts the engine speed when shifting. Manual driving mode is also possible. It is operated via the DNR switch and the stalk switch. The display indicates the currently engaged gear to the driver.
Application: Intercity buses and coaches
EcoLife automatic gearbox
The EcoLife automatic gearbox is a new addition to MAN’s technical lineup. Its focus lies on fuel-saving gearboxes and green-thinking performance. The unique functions of the new 6-speed automatic gearbox enable efficient idling on minor downhill gradients, optimised gearshift behaviour in stop-and-go traffic, as well as shorter gear ratios between individual gears. The effect: less noise and lower fuel consumption.
Application: City/intercity buses and coaches
DIWA gearbox
The gearbox is installed in all MAN Lion’s City series as standard. It features electronic integration in the driveline, an efficient mechanical-hydraulic power split, as well as a high-performance secondary retarder. Additionally, it has the SensoTop topography-dependent gearshift program that ensures optimised shift speeds and a considerably lower fuel consumption even for heavy vehicle classes. A separate, maintenance-free shift point automatically detects slopes and downhill gradients and calculates the corresponding optimal shift points.
Application: City/intercity buses and coaches
