The high flexibility of the configuration allows our MAN Lion’s Intercity to be tailored to deployment as an intercity bus, in shuttle transport or as school bus. Powerful and efficient drive
The MAN Lion’s Intercity has a powerful and efficient drive. Over mountains, through valleys, on rough terrain or paved surfaces – the intercity bus has what it takes.
With up to 360 hp (265 kW), the highly efficient nine-litre D15 engine in the MAN Lion’s Intercity brings a lot of power to the road. Compared to the tried-and-tested lighter D08 engine, the D15 engines features higher torque and delivers the power necessary for challenging routes.
The common-rail engine meets the Euro 6 standard and also has highly effective exhaust gas cleaning with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), which assists in almost entirely eliminating nitrogen oxide emissions – your plus when it comes to eco-friendliness.
Economical powerhouse: the MAN D08 engine
Small but with plenty to offer! The MAN D08 engine is a sturdy lightweight among MAN bus engines and can handle very high payloads. The exhaust gas treatment system with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) also significantly reduces nitrogen oxide emissions. The compact design makes the D08 very easy to access, which means that maintenance effort will be significantly reduced.

High efficiency
Features such as automatic engine shut-down during idling or the air compressor with automatic idling system ensure high efficiency.

The two-stage air compressor with automatic idling system (SLS) automatically switches to idling in the non-delivery phase and thus contributes noticeably to a reduction in fuel consumption.
Idle Shut Down
The automatic engine shut-down during Idle Shut Down avoids CO2 and vehicle-related noise emissions.

Aerodynamically-designed
Air resistance plays only a minor role at low speeds in city traffic. However, in long-distance travel at speeds up to 100 km/h, it contributes to a large portion of the fuel consumption. Through numerous wind tunnel tests and simulations, it has been possible to significantly reduce consumption to ensure maximum efficiency and economy in use as a long-distance bus.
The aerodynamically developed design with vaulted, slightly inclined panoramic front window provides less contact area to the headwind. The air flow is optimally deflected by the rear separation edge.
