Germany's truck hauliers and intra-company transport operators have elected the best brands on the commercial vehicles market. The category of trucks over 3.5 tonnes saw a confirmation of last year's vote, with operators of fleets consisting of 11 or more vehicles again making MAN their top brand. MAN received 794 Image points from the hauliers and company transport managers and thus the Image Award 2011.

The results are based on a representative survey of 400 managers, conducted by the market research institute TNS Emnid on behalf of the Munich weekly magazine VerkehrsRundschau.

At the awards ceremony on February 24, 2011 in Munich, Dr Frank Hiller, Director of Marketing, Sales & Service of MAN Truck & Bus AG, received the winner's trophy from Ulm University's Prof. Dr Dr Franz Josef Radermacher. "We regard this award as proof of the confidence that the transport sector as a whole has in our outstanding products as well as in our committed and competent Sales team. Our motto is 'Consistently efficient': our objective here is to improve our customers' transport efficiency and offer them a comprehensive program for reducing their total cost of ownership," explained Dr Hiller.

Methodology of the Image Rankings 2011 market study

The core of the Image Rankings is the ascertaining of representative opinion on the image and the degree of awareness enjoyed by the leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles. The survey looks at the products and services that they provide for commercial vehicle fleets. In October and November 2010 the Bielefeld-based market research institute TNS Emnid surveyed a total of 400 randomly selected managers and persons responsible for purchasing in haulage companies and companies in trade and industry with their own commercial vehicle fleets. The survey’s base comprises all companies who are involved in commercial transport in Germany and/or have a commercial vehicle fleet. Decisive for being voted as the commercial vehicle market's leading supplier are factors such as market share in Germany, nationwide blanket coverage and the awareness of the brand demonstrated by major decision makers. Amongst others, public rankings of market share and turnover as well as expert estimates serve as the basis.
