MAN wins the Image Award 2010

Fleet operators in Germany vote MAN their top brand

Germany's hauliers and works transport operators have chosen the best brands in the commercial-vehicle market. In the truck category (over 3.5 tonnes) fleet operators with eleven or more trucks voted MAN their top brand. MAN was awarded 795 image points by hauliers and works transport managers and thus carried off the Image Award 2010.

The results are based on a representative survey of 400 managers organised by the TNS Emnid market research institute on behalf of the Munich-based weekly magazine VerkehrsRundschau.

At the awards ceremony in Munich on 25th February Reinhard Pöllmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of MAN Truck & Bus Deutschland GmbH, received the trophy from the hands of Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Motor-Vehicle Industry Assocation (VDA). "We regard this award as proof of the confidence of the entire transport industry in our outstanding products and in our committed and competent sales team", said Pöllmann. "Our motto in the current difficult economic phase is 'Consistently efficient'. Here our aim is to improve the transport efficiency of our customers and offer them a comprehensive programme for reducing their total operating costs".

Methodology behind the market study image rankings for 2010

The core of the image ranking involves ascertaining a representative opinion on the image and familiarity of the leading commercial-vehicle producers. In this context their products and services for truck fleets are examined. In October and November 2009 the Bielefeld-based market research institute TNS Emnid asked a total of 400 randomly selected purchasing managers, managers in haulage companies and in industrial and trading companies with their own fleets for their opinion. The pool was made up of all companies in Germany that are active in commercial goods transport and/or run their own truck fleets. The factors determining selection of the leading suppliers in the truck sector are, for example, their market shares in Germany, national presence and familiarity of the brand among the main decision-makers. Other market-share and turnover rankings and experts appraisals are also used as a basis.
